The Old Missions Model doesn't work, it's time for a Healthy New Missions Model.
For many years, missionaries have been launched without being properly prepared and especially in areas of cross-cultural skills, taking care of their mental health, their families mental health.
They have paid the price severely with many ending up broken, burned out, suffering compassion fatigue, PTSD and struggle to re-enter into their home country.
Long term missions needs to be replaced with shorter term rotating cycles. The military does this, the peace corps does this and it is time the church updates its mission model as well to retain their people and for the mission to be successful.
The mission suffers because of neglect to care for missionaries.
